Steve Grasha is a passionate advocate for safe drinking water for all and a dedicated public servant, who has long called Palm Springs and Desert Hot Springs home. With an impressive history in local water management and community advocacy, he was elected in 2022 to serve as the Division 1 Director for the Desert Water Agency (DWA). In this role, he actively participates in the Conservation and Public Affairs Committee, where he plays a crucial part in shaping sustainable water policy for the region.
Prior to his involvement with the Desert Water Agency, Steve distinguished himself on the Board of Directors for the Mission Springs Water District (MSWD) from 2018 to 2022. During his tenure, he was instrumental on both the Engineering and Finance Committees, showcasing his dedication to responsible infrastructure planning. His efforts were pivotal in the construction of the Regional Water Reclamation Facility, a project entirely funded by state grants, which saved local customers nearly $70 million.
In addition to his public service, Steve Grasha is recognized as an innovative entrepreneur in the private sector, known for pioneering high-pressure stainless steel misting systems—a breakthrough technology that has been widely embraced in Palm Springs and around the globe. He successfully led his company as CEO for several decades before retiring in 2015.
Steve's commitment to service extends well beyond his professional endeavors. He has taken on numerous leadership roles within nonprofit and community organizations, including Chairman of the Riverside County Leadership Forum’s Safe Water Project, Interim Executive Director of Food in Need of Distribution (F.I.N.D.), Director of Desert Community Outreach, and Disaster Services Coordinator for the American Red Cross, where he received the esteemed Volunteer of the Year Award.
